Rock The Bells Cancels Remaining Dates

The Rock The Bells Festival has pulled the plug early this year – announcing today the cancellation of both their New York and Washington D.C. events.   Deciding to not master any ceremonies this coming weekend in the nation’s capital or the following weekend near NYC was an admittedly tough decision for Guerilla Union’s Chang Weisberg who acknowledged that they “did everything in [their] power to save the show.  Unfortunately, the financial loss would have been devastating.”  Weisberg additionally apologized to fans who purchased advanced tickets in support of the reoccurring celebration of hip-hop.

This year’s Rock The Bells event featured performances from Black Hippy – including Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q, J. Cole, Juicy J, A$AP Mob, Dilated Peoples, Pusha T, Brother Ali, Bone Thugs N Harmony with a virtual performance by Eazy E and a special 20 year anniversary celebration of the Wu Tang Clan with a virtual performance by Ol Dirty Bastard.  The cancellation amidst news of poor ticket sales continues a string of misses for the esteemed Rock The Bells Festival.  Last year’s east coast performances had notably poor attendance and the show in San Bernadino in early September 2013 suffered from interruptions due to Wu Tang computer malfunctions.
