The next great (currently below the radar) LA quartet that I think is going to pop off in a SUPERGOOD way is Mind The Gap. As evidenced by their new single “Hero” – they capture the fusion of electronic dance in a way that feels like an indie ballad is being mashed up with a slamming house track by your favorite DJ. Hero even feels like A-Trak’s remix of Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Heads Will Roll”…except its an original composition. And a catchy one at that. With recently landed synchs in “You’re Next” and a forthcoming documentary tentatively titled “Generation Iron” – plus spots on Lifetime and other reality programming – it appears they have a penchant for songwriting and it’s possible you may have even already been exposed to MTG.
If you haven’t – August 30th at The Roxy is your chance. With a set scheduled for 9 p.m. in a supporting slot for Work Drugs – I can promise they’ll unleash at least a half hour of power that will probably leave your feet sore, your heart racing and have you chanting at least one of their hooks. If you haven’t heard or seen this train coming – make sure you Mind The Gap, because they’ve arrived. Get your tickets for tonight’s show here!
